ABOUT QBBA
With a strategic aim of having a Buddhist Temple and Theravada Buddhism centre predominantly presided over by Burmese Monks, our association was formed in year 2000, in Brisbane, Australia.
Today, our goal of having a Burmese Buddhist Temple in Brisbane is shaped into the reality. Despite limited resources available to us, our belief and strong focus towards our own monastery will pull us through any complexity we may face.
We welcome and appreciate all the support we can get to achieve our goal in a shortest period of time possible. Please join us building a strong Buddhism environment here in Queensland, by showing your interest and become a member and Dhamma donor.
The following is a brief history of Queensland Burmese Buddhist Association of Brisbane, Australia. The Queensland Burmese Buddhist Association Inc., a non-profit organisation, was established in Brisbane on 8th March 2000. The founders were a small group of Burmese Buddhist migrants. The aim of this association was to conduct Burmese Buddhist activities in an effective group effort. Since then we have been able to celebrate religious festivals to their true meanings with value. We have paid homage to a number of famous Venerable Sayadaws and this has graced us with various opportunities to further appreciate Dhamma teachings from time to time.
The organisation which first started its journey with a mere handful of devout Myanmar Buddhists has grown in both its numbers and accomplishments. With a team approach between all members including those on the executive committee we have now laid down the foundation and formed Jetavana Myanmar Buddhist Monastery in Brisbane.
At present, two Venerable Sayadaws U Kitsayana and U Sunanda resides here. The Executive Committee members are traditionally selected at our annual meeting. The Committee further selects the President, the Vice President, the Secretary and the Treasurer. Suggestions and input from various Dhamma friends are vital for future growth and success of our organization. Therefore we humbly welcome any suggestions or constructive criticisms regarding our current policies and activities. Please do not hesitate to forward all ideas via e mail or postal address.
