Nagis Cyclone Donations
Myanmar’s most populated regions, Irrawaddy Delta region and three other states were ripped and torn apart by cyclone Nargis, blasting over 120-150 mile per hour winds which smashed into Myanmar on 2nd and 3rd of May 2008. Irrawaddy Division has been severely affected. Latest information suggests more than 100,000 confirmed dead. The death toll is likely to rise with more than 40,000 people still missing. Over 1 million people are now homeless and starving for food.
The public health catastrophe of the Nargis cyclone has already started. Diarrhoea is spreading very quickly and could wipe out survivors. Water and mosquito-borne diseases like cholera, dengue and malaria are serious concerns. The survivors desperately need shelter, clean water, food, basic health care and sanitation.
In order to help the victims of this deadly disaster, we are collecting funds throughout Australia. Any donation will be deeply appreciated and it will go a long way to help. All donations received will be distributed to the affected people through our local Burmese networks which is directly to Irrawaddy Division and other regional areas.
